Projects catch up day! Today we talked about each student's project, what is it? What is exciting you about it? and what is making you nervous? All have great ideas to work on. Martrell and Ezza are looking at setting up iDonate for Matthew 25. We discussed developing measures to see how much money would come through this venue and we discussed ways to "follow the dollar" and see its impact on Matthew 25 operations. Kelly is torn between two projects for Allen County Department of Health. Either looking at smoking cessation and developing techniques, information and assessments to help people quit not only tobacco products but also look at eCigarettes and Betel Nut OR develop an understanding of 340B pharmacies and what potential might one have for the department. Joe is looking at how to reduce immunization refusal rates at supershots clinics. He will look at reasons for refusal, educational material and potentially healthcare provider approaches during visits. Bri has developed a questionnaire to measure mental health patients adherence and assess compliance. She will actually test that by interviewing some patients and hopefully it will be of such benefit that the institution would implement it in their practice All were excited about doing something that could potentially positively impact the services being provided at their institutions. All were also nervous about the results of their projects, will it succeed? will it fail?? nervous about seeing how their time and effort will come to fruition. Dr. Hanson, almost teary eyed, said "in my opinion, you have all succeeded. To establish such a level of trust and respect from the organizations to put such faith in you to carry on such projects is a success in and of its own" I couldn't have said better myself. Proud of all of them and their maturation through this class. |
