My thoughts are a lot like Kelly's. The first day of class I was like, I'm not going to be able to manage this AND, this is not what I thought. Well, months later, I am glad that I decided to stick it out and not bail. I was able to experience so much more than what a book or lecture can provide. The people at Park Center (especially Kristin) were amazing and full of information that I was completely unaware of, topics that get a gloss over (at best) in our regular curriculum. Interesting how unique and these incredibly underserved populations get so little attention when they are area where we can make the most impact.
I really enjoyed our discussions in class and that a safe environment was created to enhance a no judgement zone. Thank you Dr. A and Dr. Hanson for being so down to earth and easing our fears when discussing hot button topics.
In reference to last week's discussion, the cartoon below hangs on my fridge as a laughable reminder to let go of the things I cannot control. (This was totally me at one point in my life) Enjoy :)
