This semester I have been paired with Matthew 25 Health & Dental Clinics. Matthew 25 has been serving Fort Wayne for nearly 40 years by providing low-cost healthcare to uninsured, low-income patients within the local community. Services available include medical, dental, vision, and hearing. Routine and preventative care is provided to over 100 patients daily and over 1,000 patients rely on Matthew 25 for the treatment and management of diabetes. The clinic does not receive any government support and relies solely on donations for funding. Additionally, The clinic is powered by a large pool of over 400 professional and non-professional volunteers. Matthew 25 relies largely on healthcare professionals from within the community to give back by donating time and services. The constant need for quality care within the local community has driven Matthew 25 to expand several times and future plans include the development of a new dedicated space for patient education.
